William John Jones
Born in Wales on Dec. 26, 1886. Jones came to California in 1898 and settled in Alameda. He studied at the CSFA and was active in the San Francisco Bay area in the 1930s. Despite the handicap of amputated arms, he painted through the intricate workings of hooks and straps governed by his back muscles. Jones lived in Alameda at 1816 Wood Street until his fatal fall down the stairs of his home on March 23, 1947.
